dynasty
Family power succession
A dynasty is a sequence of rulers from the same family line, each inheriting power from predecessors: the Ming dynasty, the Habsburg dynasty.
The word extends to any family that maintains prominence across generations in business, politics, or entertainment: a banking dynasty, a Hollywood dynasty.
In sports, dynasty describes teams that dominate their league over multiple seasons.
