era
Chapter of history
An era is a distinct period of time marked by particular characteristics, events, or developments.
Eras are defined by what makes them different from what came before: the Victorian era, the digital era, the end of an era.
In geology, an era is a major division of time containing multiple periods.
The word often signals historical or cultural turning points: We're entering a new era in medicine.
