textbook
Assigned classroom volume
A textbook is a book designed for formal study of a subject, used in schools and universities: The professor assigned three textbooks for the course.
As an adjective, textbook means perfectly typical or exemplary—exactly as described in instructional materials: a textbook case of fraud, textbook technique.
The adjective often carries slight irony, since real situations rarely match textbook descriptions.
