Inventory tracking number
SKU stands for stock keeping unit, a unique code assigned to each distinct product in retail inventory systems.
Every variation—size, color, style—gets its own SKU, allowing stores to track what's in stock and what's selling: We have three SKUs for that shirt.
Pronounced either as initials (S-K-U) or as a single syllable rhyming with "you."
