Micronesia

Thousand scattered islands

Micronesia is a region of the western Pacific Ocean comprising thousands of small islands scattered across a vast expanse north of the equator.

The name means "small islands" in Greek.

The Federated States of Micronesia is an independent nation within this region, but Micronesia more broadly includes Guam, Palau, the Marshall Islands, and other island groups: Traditional navigation techniques have been preserved in Micronesia for centuries.
