southwest
Halfway between directions
Southwest refers to the direction or compass point midway between south and west.
As an adjective or adverb, it describes location, direction, or origin: a southwest wind, head southwest on the highway.
The term also designates regions lying in that direction: the desert southwest, southwest London.
We drove southwest for three hours before stopping. (Capitalized Southwest typically refers to a specific region, especially of the United States.)
