succotash
Lima-maize side dish
Succotash is an American dish of corn kernels and lima beans cooked together, often with butter or cream.
The name comes from a Narragansett word.
It originated as Native American fare and became a staple of New England cooking: We're having succotash with dinner.
The exclamation Sufferin' succotash! was popularized by the cartoon character Sylvester the Cat.
