New Hampshire
Primary election leader
New Hampshire is a state in the northeastern United States, one of the six New England states, bordered by Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, and a brief stretch of Atlantic coastline.
It is known for hosting the first presidential primary election in each campaign cycle, giving it outsized political influence despite its small population.
The state motto, "Live Free or Die," reflects a tradition of independent-mindedness.
