Cherokee
Trail of Tears nation
Cherokee refers to a Native American people originally from the southeastern United States, or a member of that people.
The Cherokee were forcibly relocated westward in the 1830s on the Trail of Tears; today most live in Oklahoma and North Carolina.
Cherokee also names their Iroquoian language: She's learning to speak Cherokee.
The word appears in compound names for plants and places.
