farmer
Tills the soil
A farmer is someone who works the land, raising crops or livestock.
The term covers everything from small family operations to industrial agriculture.
Farmer often implies ownership or management rather than hired labor: My grandfather was a dairy farmer in Wisconsin.
The word extends metaphorically to anyone who cultivates something systematically: a fish farmer, a server farmer.
