mule
Stubborn pack animal
A mule is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse—a hybrid animal known for strength, endurance, and stubbornness.
Because mules are sterile, the word extends to other hybrids or things that bridge categories.
A mule is also a backless slipper or shoe.
In drug slang, a mule is someone who transports contraband, especially across borders: She was arrested as a drug mule at the airport.
