footpath

Narrow pedestrian route

A footpath is a narrow path for walking, especially one through countryside or parks.

Unlike roads or sidewalks, footpaths are typically unpaved trails meant for pedestrians only: We followed the footpath along the river.

In British usage, footpath also refers to what Americans call a sidewalk.
