Tiny display unit
A pixel is the smallest unit of a digital image—a single point of color on a screen.
Images are grids of pixels; higher resolution means more pixels and finer detail.
The word blends "picture" and "element." Pixelated describes images where individual pixels are visible, usually unintentionally: The photo was so pixelated you couldn't make out faces.
