photograph
Light-made picture
A photograph is an image created by capturing light on a sensitive surface—originally chemical film, now usually a digital sensor.
To photograph is to take such an image: She photographed the wedding.
Unlike paintings or drawings, photographs record what was actually in front of the camera, giving them evidentiary weight: The photograph proved he was there.
