pixel art
Chunky digital imagery
Pixel art is digital artwork created by placing individual pixels deliberately, usually at low resolution where each pixel is visible and contributes to the image.
The style emerged from early video game graphics when hardware limitations forced artists to work within tight constraints.
Modern pixel art often evokes nostalgia for 8-bit and 16-bit era games: She makes pixel art portraits as a side hustle.
The aesthetic has become a deliberate choice rather than a technical necessity.
