What mirrors show

An image is a visual representation—a picture, photograph, or likeness of something.

The word extends to mental pictures: I have a vivid image of my grandmother's kitchen.

Image also means the impression someone projects or maintains: The scandal damaged his public image.

In computing, an image is a file containing visual data or an exact copy of a disk or drive.

To image something is to create such a copy or to picture mentally.
