pixelate
Reduce image resolution
To pixelate is to display an image as a grid of visible square blocks rather than smooth detail.
This happens when an image is enlarged beyond its resolution, or deliberately to obscure faces, license plates, or nudity: The documentary pixelated the witness's face.
The effect suggests digital degradation or censorship.
Also spelled pixellate.
