encore

Crowd-summoned finale

The interjection Encore! is a request for continuation of a performance. When it succeeds, the audience gets an encore. By extension, encore is used to characterize actions that are viewed as a repetition or continuation of what has gone before: Fans are hoping for an encore of the previous score when the team plays next week.

As a verb, encore usually means perform an encore: The band encored with new material.
