performance

How well done

Performance is the act of carrying out, accomplishing, or executing something—whether a task, function, or duty.

It extends naturally to the execution of artistic works before an audience: a musical performance, a theatrical performance.

From there it takes on the sense of how well something or someone functions: The car's performance exceeded expectations; Her job performance has been outstanding.

In contemporary usage, performance often implies a degree of deliberate presentation or artifice, as when someone's behavior seems calculated for effect rather than genuine.
