locus
Center of activity
Locus is a place or location, especially one where something significant occurs or is concentrated: the locus of power, the locus of infection.
In mathematics, a locus is the set of all points satisfying a particular condition—a circle is the locus of points equidistant from a center.
In genetics, a locus is the specific position of a gene on a chromosome.
Plural: loci.
