democracy
Rule by citizens
Democracy is a form of government in which people choose their leaders in free elections.
A country that has this form of government can also be called a democracy.
The vast majority of developed countries are democracies.
Adjectives that people use in front of democracy usually provide more information about a particular country’s government, in terms such as parliamentary democracy or multi-party democracy.
