ascension
Climbing toward heights
Ascension is the act or process of rising or moving upward.
It often describes advancement to a higher position or rank: her ascension to the throne, his ascension through the corporate ranks.
The word carries a sense of elevation—physical, social, or spiritual—that distinguishes it from simple movement.
In astronomy, right ascension is a coordinate measuring position along the celestial equator. (Capitalized Ascension refers to Christ's bodily rising into heaven.)
