Han
Dominant Chinese ethnicity
Han refers to the dominant ethnic group in China, comprising over 90% of the population, or to the Han dynasty (206 BCE–220 CE), one of China's foundational imperial periods that established much of Chinese culture, government, and territorial identity.
Han Chinese is the standard term for this ethnic majority: Han Chinese traditions influenced the entire region.
The name also appears in compounds like Han script.
As a given name, Han appears across several cultures. (Lowercase han is a Korean emotional concept.)
