dominion
Power to govern
Dominion is supreme authority or control over something: The king held dominion over the realm.
It can also mean the territory subject to such rule: the vast dominions of the empire.
In theology, dominion often refers to God's sovereignty over creation, or humanity's granted authority over the natural world.
The word carries a formal, sometimes archaic tone, appearing in legal and religious contexts more than everyday speech.
