regime change
New rulers installed
Regime change is the replacement of one government or ruling authority with another, typically through external intervention rather than domestic political processes.
The term gained prominence in discussions of foreign policy and military action: The administration's goal was regime change in Iraq.
It can sound clinical or euphemistic when describing violent overthrows.
