Habsburg
Jaw-famous royal line
Habsburg is a European royal dynasty that ruled Austria for centuries and, through strategic marriages, came to control vast territories including Spain, the Netherlands, and parts of Italy.
The family dominated European politics from the late medieval period through World War I, when the Austro-Hungarian Empire collapsed.
The Habsburg jaw—a pronounced underbite from generations of intermarriage—has become a byword for the genetic consequences of inbreeding.
