prop

Actor's handheld item

Prop is a word in its own right, and also an abbreviation.

To prop something up is to support it, literally or figuratively: Use the wooden wedge to prop the door open.

A prop is something you use to do this.

Prop also abbreviates property in the theater, where props are items that an actor interacts with.

A propjet is a jet with a propeller. Written after the name of someone, prop. indicates that they are the proprietor (that is, owner).
