Ionic

Greek architectural order

Ionic refers to Ionia, an ancient Greek region on the coast of Asia Minor, or to its people, dialect, and culture.

In architecture, the Ionic order features columns with distinctive scroll-shaped capitals called volutes—more ornate than Doric, simpler than Corinthian.

The temple's Ionic columns frame the entrance. (Lowercase ionic relates to electrically charged atoms.)
