props

Slang for respect

Props is informal acknowledgment of credit or respect for someone's accomplishment or quality: Props to the whole team for pulling this off, I gotta give her props for trying.

The word comes from "proper respect" or "propers." Separately, props are objects used on stage or in film production—short for properties: The props department lost the fake gun.
