stage
Where actors perform
A stage is a raised platform where performances occur—theatrical shows, speeches, concerts.
By extension, the stage means the theater as a profession: She's been on the stage for twenty years.
Stage also means a point in a process or development: the early stages of pregnancy, a stage of grief.
To stage something is to produce it for an audience or to arrange it for effect: stage a play, stage a protest, stage a photo op.
A stagecoach was a horse-drawn vehicle traveling in stages between stations.
