hooker

Scrum's central player

A hooker is a prostitute—someone who sells sexual services for money.

The term is casual and mildly vulgar, common in American English: The cops arrested a hooker on the corner.

In rugby, a hooker is the player in the middle of the front row of the scrum, whose job is to hook the ball backward with their foot.
