narrowboat

Slim waterway craft

A narrowboat is a canal boat built to fit through the narrow locks of British waterways, typically no more than seven feet wide.

These long, slender vessels were originally working boats hauling coal and goods; today they serve mainly as houseboats or holiday rentals: They spent a week on a narrowboat in the Midlands.
