guide book

Tourist's printed helper

A guide book, usually written as one word (guidebook), is a book of information about a place, designed for travelers or tourists.

It typically contains practical details about accommodations, restaurants, attractions, and transportation, along with maps and historical or cultural background.

We bought a guide book to Paris before our trip.

Guide books may also cover activities or subjects rather than destinations: a guide book to birdwatching in the Northeast.
