Telford
Scottish civil engineer
Telford is a town in the West Midlands of England, established as a new town in 1968 and named after the civil engineer Thomas Telford.
It merged several older communities including Dawley, Wellington, and Oakengates.
The name also appears in technical contexts: a Telford road or Telford pavement refers to a foundation of large flat stones set on edge, a construction method Telford pioneered.
