hydrofoil
Hull-raising wing
A hydrofoil is a boat fitted with wing-like structures beneath the hull that lift the vessel above the water at speed, reducing drag and allowing faster travel.
The term also refers to the foil structure itself—the underwater fin that generates lift as water flows over it: The ferry's hydrofoils raised it clear of the waves.
