home

Where you live

Home is a unique word that combines the ideas of a physical structure (a new development of single family homes) and where someone or something lives or is kept: Wasps have made a home in the attic. I haven’t yet found a home for our old couch.

Home is used as an adverb in many common expressions, such as go home, stay home, get home, and the like.

As a verb, home is followed by in and conveys movement toward a goal: In his latest paper he homes in on the weaknesses of his opponents’ arguments.

In Internet terminology, home refers to a web site’s introductory page.
