coal scuttle
Fireplace fuel container
A coal scuttle is a metal container, typically bucket-shaped with a handle, used to carry and store coal for household fires.
The scuttle often has a lip or spout for pouring coal into a fireplace or stove: She filled the coal scuttle from the bin in the cellar.
Once common in homes heated by coal fires, the object is now largely historical.
