feeder

Input device mechanism

A feeder is something that supplies or channels material to something else.

A bird feeder dispenses seed; a feeder road channels traffic to a highway; a feeder stream flows into a larger river.

In animal husbandry, a feeder is livestock being fattened for slaughter.

The word also describes someone who feeds another—a caregiver spooning food to an infant, or in fetish contexts, someone who derives pleasure from feeding a partner to encourage weight gain.
