suckling

Unweaned young mammal

A suckling is a young mammal still nursing from its mother—most often a piglet, calf, or lamb: suckling pig, a ewe with her suckling.

The word can also describe an infant at the breast.

As an adjective, it describes animals not yet weaned.

To suckle is to nurse or give suck.
