efflux
Liquid flowing outward
Efflux is an outward flow or emanation—the opposite of influx.
The word appears in scientific and technical contexts: the efflux of gases from a vent, bacterial efflux pumps that expel antibiotics.
It can also describe abstract outpourings: an efflux of capital from the region.
The term carries a formal, somewhat archaic tone in general usage.
