encephalography

Mapping brain activity

Encephalography is the recording and study of electrical activity in the brain.

The term covers techniques that produce images or tracings of brain function, most commonly electroencephalography (EEG), which measures electrical signals through electrodes placed on the scalp: The encephalography revealed abnormal brain wave patterns.
