amplitude
Peak from equilibrium
Amplitude is the extent or magnitude of something, especially the maximum displacement from a resting position.
In physics, it measures wave strength—the height of a sound wave determines loudness, the height of a light wave determines brightness.
More generally, amplitude suggests breadth or fullness: the amplitude of her knowledge, the amplitude of the symphony's emotional range.
