cerebrum

Main brain mass

The cerebrum is the largest part of the brain, occupying the upper portion of the skull and divided into two hemispheres.

It controls voluntary movements, processes sensory information, and handles higher functions like thinking, learning, memory, and language.

When people tap their temples to suggest intelligence or say someone has "a lot of gray matter," they're referencing the cerebrum's wrinkled outer layer, the cerebral cortex.
