tomography
Layered body scanning
Tomography is an imaging technique that produces cross-sectional pictures of an object by combining data from multiple angles.
The prefix tomo- means slice or section.
A CT scan (computed tomography) uses X-rays to create detailed images of internal body structures: The tomography revealed a small tumor in his lung.
Other forms include PET scans and MRI.
