electrocardiography

Cardiac electrical recording

Electrocardiography is the medical technique of recording the heart's electrical activity.

The procedure produces an electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG)—a graph showing the rhythm and strength of heartbeats.

It's a standard diagnostic tool for detecting arrhythmias, heart attacks, and other cardiac conditions: The doctor ordered electrocardiography after she complained of chest pains.
