desynchronization
Falling out of step
Desynchronization is the loss of synchronization—when things that were coordinated in time fall out of alignment.
The term appears in technical contexts: desynchronization of brain waves during sleep, network desynchronization caused the system failure.
In everyday use, it describes any breakdown of timing or coordination: Jet lag is really just desynchronization of your internal clock.
