digger
Spade wielder underground
A digger is a person or machine that digs—excavates earth or other material.
Gold diggers once dug for gold; now the term usually means someone who pursues relationships for money.
In Australian and New Zealand English, digger is an informal term for a soldier, originally from World War I, and extends to a friendly form of address between men: How ya going, digger?
