Down-under uncouth type
A bogan is an uncultured or unsophisticated person, especially one from a working-class background—the Australian and New Zealand equivalent of American "redneck" or British "chav." The term suggests someone with rough manners, cheap tastes, and provincial attitudes: bogans in their mullets and flannelette shirts.
It can be affectionate or derisive depending on context.
