female
Bearing offspring sex
Female is the sex that produces eggs or bears offspring, as distinct from male.
In humans, female refers to girls and women: female athletes, the first female president.
The word serves as both adjective and noun, though using it as a noun for women—especially by men—often sounds clinical or dismissive: I was talking to this female at the bar.
Female also describes parts, connectors, or fittings designed to receive a corresponding male part.
