Game play guidelines
Volleyball rules govern how the sport is played, covering court dimensions, scoring, rotation, and legal plays.
The basic framework allows six players per side who attempt to ground the ball on the opponent's court within three touches, without letting it touch the ground on their own side.
Rules prohibit catching or throwing the ball, touching the net, and crossing under it into the opponent's space.
We had to look up the volleyball rules to settle the debate about whether that set was legal.
